Being in this remote, stunning location is a once in a lifetime experience. The bus ride to the lodge is an experience itself as the bus driver/guide is amazing! (Ours was Kirsty and she could identify caribou as she drove scary, cliff side roads!) We enjoyed our two days of hikes. But it was disappointing that all hikes were set for 9am, so guests could only do one hike per day. Our food was very good, but our packed lunch on the trail was kind of skimpy. Be sure to notify the chef if you have dietary restrictions. Seeing the peak of Denali is a true joy!

Friendly, knowledge staff. Clean, rustic cabins at the very end of the park road in Denali. No phone, no internet, no TV, no problem. Your trip includes a 6 hour bus ride (both ways) on a glorified school bus, 90 miles from the Denali train station through the park. A knowledge driver guide helps your group to spot wildlife along the way and regales you with stories of the park and Alaska. The food is very good, sometimes buffet, sometimes family style. Guided hikes, bicycles, gold panning, fly fishing are all options for your time there. (Minimum stay is 2 nights.) There is also a shuttle to nearby Wonder Lake and various presentations by staff. Learn about sled dogs, training them and racing in the Iditarod. Only 30% of all visitors ever get to see the mountain due to clouds, but it is a wonderful experience.

I have made a living out of travel for 39 years. I spend my off time well off the beaten path. Kantishna Roadhouse Backcountry Lodge far exceeded my expectations. From the moment I arrived, I felt like family. A warm and welcoming coordinator and crew, and an impeccable lodge was ready for anything I might want to do or see. Guided hikes, self guided mountain tours for wildlife photos, bike rides to the lake or beyond and of course, a campfire. The guides are very knowledgeable and love to share. It is difficult to explain just how truly awe inspiring the beauty of the park is, and how much I felt at home in the hills and the lodge. Flyfishing moose creek and panning for gold was just a bonus to the week. And a quick word about the food. In all my travels this is the first time Ive ever photographed my meals. Visual works of art, and a taste from the Gods. Every meal was an experience. They even catered to my special dietary needs. I could chat forever about this beautiful place and its family of people, but I think I’ll finish with this. I cannot wait to return and experience everything again and again. A special lodge, in a special place, with special people, who are especially sincere. Kantishna Roadhouse! What are you waiting for …

Staff was so nice, amazing. Lauren was just wonderful and so helpful guiding us around. We must have been lucky because there were no mosquitoes. Took the best photos ever there!

What a wonderful experience; everything was great! Charlie, the driver's in depth knowledge of Alaskan history, wildlife and terrain, foliage, etc. Our trail guide, the food, our cabin were all great. A shout out to Mary. And then you step outside to all the grandeur of Denali - amazing! !

I wish to express my gratitude for the wonderful experience I had at Kantishna Roadhouse! The staff took excellent care of my special needs (limited mobility) and ensured that I got to participate in activities to the full extent possible. My main goal was to see and photograph Denali at Wonder Lake and Reflection Pond. Not only was I able to get sensational photographs of Denali, but also images of caribou, a family of beavers building their winter home at Wonder Lake, scenics at the Southern end of Wonder Lake along the boardwalk, and some cool aerial photos on the Denali Air flights to/from Kantishna! The meals at Kantishna were outstanding! Mealtime was a great opportunity to build new friendships with other guests. It was fun to talk about the day's events and what we experienced. The beautifully designed Denali T-shirt was so comfortable to sleep in. My Kantishna Roadhouse experience was one of the best adventures of my life! It took me 7 years to get to Denali after my first visit was cancelled due to my limited mobility. Kantishna Roadhouse made it possible to fulfill a dream! Thank You!

It's our first time to Denali, and there are only a few options if you want to stay inside the park. We chose Kantishna because it was owned and operated by native Alaskan people and it's near the end of park road (~90miles) so it'd save us time to explore inner part of the Denali. Our stay was great and the staff and services are wonderful. We joined guided hikes on "McKinley Bar Trail" and Wonder Lake, and various "touristy" activities like gold penning and walk around the places, and we love them all :) The shuttle ride in and out of the park each took 7 hrs, even it seems long, but it's worth it because it gives us numerous opportunities to see wild life, we saw 4-5 groups of bears, wolf, foxes, caribou, moose, eagles, and took so many memorable pictures along the way, it's one of the best way to experience the park!

My son and I booked the Roadhouse to be as remote as possible. The Roadhouse is operating at ~15% capacity with the Denali Park road closed and everything being flown in and out. My advice is to go before the road reopens. We had an awesome time with the staff in Denali.
